Alright….I know I said this would wait until after finals but I’m up anyway and I couldn’t resist. Special Topics: Native American Culture and Ethnography will have to wait until later, when I’m done nerding out. Because now I know its OK.

So earlier I posted this video:

And my entire existence was justified. Not really. Close enough! Next time S rolls her eyes at me I am going to play this video with the volume at it maximum on repeat for at least 2 hours (This is fair warning darling :) ).

In all seriousness I really did experience a lot of emotion when I watched it, and to summarize what I was thinking I took to keyboard and screen and wrote the following post:

It’s all my mothers fault.

She introduced me and my siblings to Star Trek (The Original Series, TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise), Babylon 5, and later SG1 and SG: Atlantis

It’s all my fathers fault

He watched Star Wars with me, and taught me the correct order for the watching a marathon, and he read Harry Potter to me

It’s all my Best Friends fault

This chick allowed BBC to take over my life and ruined my GPA with Doctor Who and Sherlock THEN she reintroduced me to my Gilmore Girls era crush by bringing Supernatural into my life (jury is still out on which Dean is hotter….)

It’s all my Uncles fault

Uncle R encouraged me to READ, even when everyone else was playing with toys or watching Nickelodeon this man had the audacity to tell me I could/should read!

And so I became a nerd. Nerds are not born, we are made. We are created when an individual begins to believe that there is more to the world and life than what everyone else believes that there is more to learn, to discover, to explore! My mother, father, friends, and family opened my world to new possibilities and adventures and created a nerd.

But not a single person ever told me that it was OK to be a nerd.

Until today (well yesterday…. )

I was born in 1993. It has been 20 years since I began my journey into nerd-hood and today someone told me that was OK.

The only thing that could make this moment more amazing would be if I could find my own personal path to “professional nerd”

P.S this post will henceforth be known as the post with the LONGEST introduction to EVER exist!!!!! There are just so many emotions here i could;t contain it all in a short intro. And it is 6 AM  and I haven’t seen my bed since 6AM yesterday so I deserve to emote!
